At the age of 16, Aris performed with the Children’s Performing Company of Australia, First Class Seniors Division. He was mentored and coached by Collette Mann, Tony Nikolakopoulos, and George Kapiniaris.
After graduating from high-school, Aris obtained diplomas in Sport Science and Justice studies. At the time, dramatic arts seemed to be an unfeasible and unsustainable career for Aris, so he pursued with his tertiary education and phased into a ‘normal’ career.
In 2010, Aris made a bold and daring decision to leave behind his prior studies and career, so he could enroll into Film & Television studies at Footscray City Films. There he focused on his creative writing and directorial skills. To help other students, Aris acted in a string of short film projects. He was often praised for his enthusiasm and presence in front of the camera. Not long after, Aris had a lucid dream which he perceived as an unconscious epiphany to bravely delve back into the acting realm. He was well aware of the fierce competitiveness that lay ahead in the industry, so he set out for adequate training.
Aris came across the renowned actor, Jeremy Kewley who was holding classes for actors interested in starting a professional career in acting. Aris completed Jeremy Kewley’s ‘Acting Essentials’ program, and moved on to score a bit part in ‘City Homicide’, then another on ‘Underbelly’. Those back to back castings fuelled Aris’ desire to pursue a career as a professional actor.
In late 2010, Aris and his friends were planning a holiday to the USA. While planning the holiday he learnt of the critically acclaimed acting coach Margie Haber, who had trained A-list stars Brad Pitt, Halle Berry, Vince Vaughn, and Heather Locklear. Aris decided to venture off to LA one week prior to his friends so he could spend six days training in the Margie Haber Studio. After completing his training in Hollywood, Aris was now completely aware of the mountainous challenges that lay ahead, if he ever wanted to be a contender in the industry’s top flight sector.
Aris briefly flirted with the idea of enrolling into the VCA’s Bachelor of Dramatic Arts, but instead chose to take on a more hands on approach toward developing his skills and acting on films simultaneously. In early 2011, Aris successfully auditioned for a position in The Australian Film & Television Academy’s full time coarse. The intense schedule focused on an approach toward acting for the screen, which allowed Aris to hone in on his craft organically. Aris was mentored by the likes of John Orcsik, Jasper Bagg, Mark Raffety, David Cameron, Mick Preston, and a string of renowned actors and coaches.
In July 2011, Aris underwent TAFTA’s ‘National Actors Intensive’. A five day Casting Director workshop which gave Aris and his peers 58 hours of invaluable script analysis, character break down and audition technique lessons with 12 of Australia’s leading Casting Directors. Aris intends to head off to India and Vancouver, to explore the acting opportunities that await him in an unfamiliar yet exciting environment.
Aris enjoys the adrenal rush that come with acting, but he is also aware of the importance of balancing a healthy state of mind, body, & spirit. Aris enjoys life’s simple pleasures like spending time with friends and family, reading, training his dogs, the outdoors, and sport. Aris is particularly enthusiastic with horseback riding, martial arts, meditation, tennis, soccer, target shooting, and wildlife watching.444
