Flower is a normal girl from a normal background, living with her normal parents in a normal residential estate. She goes to college, works part time in a DVD shop and lives out a reasonably happy and fulfilling life.
However there’s something not instantly noticeable about Flower – ever since her 4th birthday when she received the Jurassic Park VHS as a present, she has had a lifelong obsession for Jeff Goldblum. Throughout the years, her parents have desperately tried to get her to focus on other interests and hobbies, but all roads eventually lead to Jeff.
With her 21st birthday fast approaching, Flower has asked for only one thing – she finally wants to meet Jeff Goldblum. In 21 years, Derek and Marguerite have never disappointed their daughter with a birthday present. Not knowing who to turn to, they have invited a film crew into their lives with the intent of sending the footage to Jeff Goldblum in order to prove Flower’s devotion to him.
“Flower ‘n’ Bloom” tells her story through candid interviews and home movie footage, along with her interactions with the people in her day-to-day life, while following her quest to one day meet the legendary Jeff Goldblum.
Due to the documentary nature of the production, cast must have strong improvisation skills and be able to work from an outline and their own initiative.
Cast must be available to travel to WATERFORD on dates to be determined in JULY OR AUGUST
We’re looking for a strong and energetic cast with a great sense of humour and capable of tackling challenging roles.
Cast must be able to evoke a sense of sadness or hopelessness in an audience and in each other.
Although the film does contain traces of dark humour, it’s far from a comedy or spoof.
Unfortunately the production is un-financed so there won’t be any salaries, however all cast will be fed and watered!
Short-listed applicants may be asked to film a short video of themselves in character as an audition piece.
All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during filming with no exceptions.
Applicants must be confident and not easily embarrassed when placed in awkward public situations, for example, there is a scene in which Flower goes to a clothes shop every day and asks have they got in any Jeff Goldblum t-shirts yet. In another, she is in a restaurant during one of her failed relationship scenes and asks if the chef can make a pizza in the shape of Jeff Goldblum’s face. In order to achieve authenticity, the management of these establishments will be notified for filming clearance, but the staff that you are dealing with will not be aware of the cameras.
