Under Sydney’s iconic architecture and glass skyline is a world of crime and death. It does not discriminate, no matter what race or age its inhabitants are. In the end, only one thing matters, money.

White and Black is an ensemble crime drama short film shooting in Sydney.

It mainly follows Cedric’s attempt to leave the criminal world when he is inspired by his tattoo artist, Katherine. He is given this chance by his boss, Rick Wu, only if he finishes one last job. This job goes haywire when Cedric and his partner, Scott, go to the wrong address and kills an innocent man. A young boy witnesses this and Scott attempts to kill him but is stopped by Cedric.

With his boss’s men after him as well as an obsessed cop, Cedric has no one to turn to except the person that he decided to change his life for.

This is a non-paying job. But all actors will be catered for and transported to filming locations. A copy of the film as well as any marketing material that may be produce will also be given.

Most lead roles have been casted, we are in need of supporting actors now.

This film is scheduled to make the late 2009 to early 2010 festival runs as well as producer viewings.

Please apply now for auditions or more information.

Rick Wu

Chinese male in his late thirties to late forties. Looks like your average Chinese uncle. Small but carries authority effortlessly. Very jolly, but volatile. Deceptively packing a lot of power, both in personality and physicality. Alternates between broken and fluent English; uses a lot of Aussie colloquialisms. The boss of all the criminals in the film. Has a twisted father-son relationship with Cedric.

Males, aged 35 to 50 from New South Wales, Aus

Frank James

White Australian male in his late thirties. Owner of the tattoo parlour that Katherine works at. A vulgar, lecherous, violent and apologetically-racist drunk with yellow fever. He rarely works in his own shop, preferring to squander the money on drugs or women.

Males, aged 35 to 40 from New South Wales, Aus

Sam

Asian male, early twenties, rotund build. Detective Logan Lam's self-styled protege, a rookie police working under Logan as his all-purpose errand boy. He runs his mouth a bit too much for his own good, usually landing Logan into hot water.

Males, aged 20 to 27 from New South Wales, Aus

Liz Gibson

White Australian female, late twenties. Detective Logan Lam's long-time partner. She is the voice of reason, often chastising Logan when he pushes too far into antisocial or criminal behaviour. Despite this, she covers for Logan even when she doesn't agree with his activities. She is conflicted with doing what's right and being a loyal friend.

Females, aged 25 to 30 from New South Wales, Aus

Bruce

Unspecified race, early thirties, tall, heavy build. Rick Wu's most loyal enforcer. He does everything his boss tells him, including sucking up Rick's violent outbursts. Jim

Unspecified race, early thirties, tall, heavy build. Bruce's partner in crime. A lot more laid back and less prone to boot licking than Bruce. Harbours no personal feelings about the job, except for his hatred of snitches. When he suspects a rat, his judgement and laid back cool become clouded.
