Auditions for Shakespeare’s “AS YOU LIKE IT”
Presented by Stagecraft. Directed by Benjamin Haddock

Shakespeare’s popular musical comedy is given a Kiwiana twist featuring Swanndris, pineapple lumps and some classic Kiwi musical anthems.

Four weddings but no funeral, chance encounters, family feuds, cross-dressing, and love at first sight .........well it can only be Shakespeare!

Auditions will be Sat & Sun 18 & 19th August. Call backs Tues 21st August.

Rehearsals are Sunday 26 August, Sunday 2 September and from then on every Tuesday & Thursday night (7.30 – 9.30) and Sundays 3-6pm. There is no rehearsal Sunday 21st October (Labour Day weekend)

Performances are from Nov 21st to Dec 1st at the Gryphon Theatre. There is a possibility of a weekday matinee for school students.

We require 12-16 performers to fill a variety of roles. Performers with enthusiasm, energy and clear diction. If you have not performed Shakespeare before – do not let that put you off auditioning. Kiwi accents preferred for most roles, but not essential

Rosalind- a young Sheila who disguises herself as a bloke
Orlando – a young fella in love with Rosalind
Celia – another young Sheila, and Rosalind’s BFF
Oliver – Orlando’s douchebag brother
Touchstone – a funny fella (any age)
Jacques – a whingey Pom (any age)
Audrey – a simple country Sheila (any age)
Phebe – a young country Sheila who falls in love with Rosalind (who is disguised as a bloke)

And many more characters that will require flexible performers able to handle multiple roles.

For your audition please prepare;
• one short piece of Shakespeare (from any play), no more than 2minutes in length.
• to sing your favorite NZ song, unaccompanied (not all roles require singing, but we ask that you give it your best shot)
