Are you like me, fed up with playing in bands who, even with the best intentions, perhaps lack fun with varied abilities, agendas and/or commitment and focus? Then I would like to hear from you. Being an experienced Bass player and Rhythm Guitarist, I am ideally looking for like minded musicians of a high standard interested in forming a new Blues Brothers Tribute band that can also double up as a general Soul, Rhythm & Blues Cover Act.

In addition to the normal Blues Brothers numbers, the repertoire will also includes classic Blues and Soul standards from artists such as Wilson Pickett, Al Green, Van Morrison, Aretha Franklin, etc.. to name but a few.

I envisage the band will comprise 2 Male Singers (e.g. Jake & Elwood Blues characters) plus perhaps 1 or 2 Female Vocalists with soulful and powerful voices, Drums, Bass, Guitar, Keyboard, Sax, Trumpet and Trombone (optional) making a 10/11 piece band (including myself) when fully operational. The exact format & final line-up will obviously depend on the individuals making up the band. Also certain venues and/or events may require a smaller line-up. Additionally all singers must have confident personalities and be capable of sharing lead and backing roles and be great movers. This specifically applies to the Blues Brothers as they must be capable of performing the moves to Tribute standard as per the Films. Audience engagement is key!

Above all it’s got to be FUN but the long term aim will be to play at higher paying corporate gigs and to larger venues, perhaps even touring or supporting other “named” Acts? However being realistic this will only be achieved based on our reputation and if we are good enough. Occasional smaller lower paid gigs are more likely to be the norm in the short term!

Recent experience has also shown that it is often difficult to form a band such as this without the right degree of commitment, accountability and dedication from each and every member. Therefore reliable musicians are sought of a high enough standard who share a common vision/objective and who will do their homework so that rehearsals are effective and kept to a minimum. The aim will be to be out gigging a.s.a.p. or at least within 3 months max of forming!
