Large scale ritual street theatre looking for performers to develop the upcoming festival
Jester's Knot is producing a large scale piece of ritual street theatre as part of the West End Festival 2009.
The production will involve combining ancient tradition with contemporary professional performance art.
There are a number of professional companies involved with skills ranging from Taiko Drumming to Fire Installation & Performance, djembe and samba, Medieval Combat, Acrobatics, Music, Mime, Dance etc.
In addition to the groups involved we need a core of dedicated volunteers who want the opportunity to perform with some of the best in the business and develop Jester's Knot and consequently their own reputations as live event performers in what will be a truly spectacular event.
Budgets are limited and will be spent on specialist professionals that we cant do with out but you will get a chance to learn from and work with these people and develop your skills in a large scale, very public, very unusual event.
We intend to recruit the majority of our volunteers through Arts Colleges and Universities however at this stage it would be good to get an idea of anyone with a little professional experience perhaps to lead volunteers etc or even become a keystone of the organisation and to ensure that everything we do is the highest possible quality.

Organisers

People with organisational skills within the context of a medium to large scale theatre/physical theatre event. You will be consummate performers in your chosen field and charismatic, committed leaders.

Processionals
Any gender, aged 18 to 99 from the United Kingdom
Representing ancient warriors and priests these will be tightly choreographed processional group roles assisting and protecting the "Goddess".

Elves
Any gender, aged 18 to 99 from the United Kingdom
This is a vital promotional role. We need people of small frame and "elfen" qualities with sense of humour, some acrobatic skills and some singing skills.

Character Parts/ Fae
Any gender, aged 18 to 99 from the United Kingdom
Some partial nudity. Character parts representing animal spirits and the "fae" to interact and engage with crowd and be part of the final stage battle.

Circus Skills / Acrobats etc
Any gender, aged 18 to 99 from the United Kingdom
Whilst most of the circus skills parts are taken care of by our professionals if you can do something we just cant live without, get in touch.
