Looking for dancers with basic acting abilities to perform in a non-narrative & expressive third year student production. The filming location is at Deakin University, Burwood (Eastern suburb of Melbourne). The roles available are one female and two male.
The film's aim is to depict a young gay man and the struggles between the raw feelings of love and passion he experiences and the societal and religious pressures of the world, and ends with a message about legalising same-sex marriage.
It will start by showing a young man (lead role) who, when faced with women showing interest in him (in the form of flirting/winking), fails to reciprocate the interest. Then when the same young man is faced with a friendly young man, there is distinct chemistry felt between the two, which will mainly be shown through movements of the eyes that also show the vulnerability and confusion. From here I plan to focus on the hands of the two characters as one man brings his hand into the empty frame, and then the other. Through the close-up on the hands I plan to show the strong bonds between these two human beings, and also the societal pressures placed upon them, eventually having the hands slowly and unwillingly torn apart. From here the hands come back together with more strength than ever and finish the film off by making a love heart shape with each other's hands to express the pure love felt for each other.
The film uses a strong audio track of voices and noises that replaces any narrative of the film. This track will tell the story of inner conflict and confusion that's going through the mind of the lead character.
The shooting for this film will only take 2-3 hours.
