What to Expect when Meeting with a Modelling Agency

If you got the chance to meet with a modelling agency right now, would you be prepared?

If that question made your stomach flip a little bit, never fear! We’ve got all you need to know right here in this blog post so you can walk in there cool, calm and collected.

The first step starts right here on the internet. Do your research. What type of models does the modelling agency currently represent? Where have their models previously been featured? They might not ask you what you know about the agency, but it’s always a good idea to research who you’re meeting with, to see if they’re the right fit.

Model HeadshotIt’s also always a good idea to bring some pictures with you. This doesn’t mean a whole portfolio, but a good, quality headshot, and a few full body shots, from face on and profile, in plain, fitted clothing (like jeans and a tight top). Write your name and contact details on the backs of the pictures too, just in case the agency wants to hold onto them. They’ll probably want to take their own polaroids too, but it never hurts to give them the option of more pictures.

In terms of clothing wear something that clearly shows off your measurements for the modelling agents (bust/waist/hips). An example of this is skinny jeans and a white or black top. Keep your makeup to a bare minimum, and pull your hair off your face so your features are clearly visible. They’ll need to make sure you can walk in heels to, so these are a must. Make sure you come prepared with your height as well.

The actual assessment by the modelling agency might be quite short. These agencies have been in the business for a long time, and have a clear idea of the type of models their looking for. This means they can very quickly determine whether or not you’ll fit in their agency, so if you feel like your meeting goes by in a flash, don’t worry, this is how it is for everyone.

Other things to note, if you’re under 18, always bring a parent or guardian with you, and get plenty of rest the day before your meeting.

Now you’re all set! Go get them....
