In 2004 I was contestant on "Forum Survivor", an adaptation of television reality show Survivor, produced by Hot FM, a regional radio station in Western Australia.
Contestants had to live in a roped off section of a shopping centre for a week, under guard, with strict rules and daily challenges.
Shoppers cast paper ballots and there were daily live broadcasts of the contestants" activities plus the daily elimination by popular vote of shoppers.
I was 3rd runner up, the last female contestant to be voted off.
It was a strange and hilarious insight into the microcosm of reality shows and a rewarding experience that boosted my self confidence working with live audiences, speaking publicly and improvising performances.
I subsequently began working in promotions role for the radio station, later becoming a broadcaster on Star FM radio in Tasmania.
