We are producing at the moment a Short Film entitled “The Long Sleep of Men”. The film tells a story infused with elements of fantasy and extraordinary wonder.

The story revolves around Ofelia, around her relation to her father, who does not know how to care for her, her relation to her mother, who, because of long illness, has been sleeping for days in her bed, quiet and still and her fascination for the lone, inert body of a soldier, who has been sleeping in a forest, quiet and still, just like her mother.

The film aims to envoke the eerie elements of supernatural beauty and mystery associated with the stories of Gabriel García Márquez and the illustrative works of Arthur Rackham.

For the protagonist Ofelia, we are looking for an actress between age 7-13.

For the character of the Father Darius, we are looking for an actor between age 30-45. The character is a model of the broken father figure, a man whose struggles and histories of violence make him an inept parent, who tries desperately to connect and care for her.

For the character of the Mother, we are looking for an actress between age 25-35. ( only required for the 6th) Wales based actress.

The shooting will take place from on the 4th, 5th and 6th of June in a beautiful rural cottage in Wales. The location is filled with history, furniture and an atmosphere of old times. We are excited to think that this shoot represents also an extraordinary experience similar to a holiday.

Two other shooting days will take place in London, Epping Forest, but these dates will be arranged with the actors as they are flexible and can take place in another time.

As we are a student film crew, our budget is tight. We don’t have the financial support to pay you, but we will cover the travel expenses, the food, and the drinks.

You will be provided with a copy of the film as well as the footage so you can use it for your showreel. As the film will be submitted to numerous festivals, you will also obtain exposure.
