True Blue, Drought Awareness Short, Seeking Actors

True Blue, Drought Awareness Short, Seeking Actors

Queensland, Australia
Listed by View details

True Blue is a film about a farming family, struggling to cope in the face of a crippling drought. A slice of life piece, the film follows Lisa, her husband John, and their young son Tom. Amid a record-breaking drought everyone is suffering, yet they put their best face forward in an attempt to protect their family.

Having seen her family struggle with drought, writer/director Bronwyn understands how heartbreaking its effects can be. Suicide rates are substantially higher among Australian farmers in rural locations than the general population. After hearing about yet another devastating suicide, Bronwyn felt compelled to write a story that shed light on this issue. The heartbreaking reality is that many people have no idea how bad the drought is in Australia, it is our hope that this film can help spread awareness to a wider community, and, with any luck, encourage some to donate if they can.

True Blue is set in rural Queensland during a drought. The team wanted a location that looked authentic. Bronwyn had her heart set on filming in the outback among the red plains and barren landscapes. The entire cast and crew will travel from Brisbane and make camp while we create our film. It’s going to be an experience!
