Mei, a young Chinese woman, moves into her girlfriend Amy’s house with the hopes of settling in alongside Amy’s father, who is a beekeeper. Days pass, and she dedicates her time to rearranging Amy’s house meticulously according to the rules of feng shui. However, one night, she is haunted by a vision of a shadow that buzzes ominously toward her. She attempts to ward the shadow off using feng shui techniques, but the nightmare persists. Eventually Mei confides in Amy’s father about the dreams, and he convinces her that the monster is just a coping mechanism for her sexual trauma, manifested by the past abuse she suffered from her stepdad. Armed with a traditional bagua mirror, Mei attempts to banish the shadow from the household. Amy comforts her, reassuring her that now that she has moved out, her father and the monster can never hurt her again. But the next morning, the shadow lurks in the corner of their bedroom, buzzing, ever present in Mei’s life.
