A LITTLE OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT
This band will do songs that will make audience members think to themselves "Oh! I haven't heard this in ages" or "man I used to listen to this all the time when I was a kid". I'm talking songs that millennials grew up with.
The covers themselves would be as precise as possible (our 'creative' outlet to this band will be explained a little later) and would include artists like Sum 41, Simple Plan, Blink 182 and Green Day as artists to do multiple songs by along with classic one-hit-wonders like Teenage Dirtbag, Mr. Brightside, See my Face, Accidentally in Love etc.
Along with those I would be wanting to do some pop punk "style" covers of famous songs that are totally not pop punk and can be hilarious or just cool. I'd ask each member of the band to name a song every few months and I'd go away and arrange it for everyone to play.
I don't have gigs booked for the time being but what I'm hoping to do is have a few practices, get a couple of songs down then record/film them professionally so we can start the right way and move on from there and get some good gigs. Potentially an open mic or crappy "whatever we can find" gig could be on the cards in the early days but generally speaking I don't want to do gigs unless everyone is getting paid and getting paid well.
YOUR ROLE IN THE BAND
Your role would be to provide the male lead vocals (I have a female lead vocalist on the bass already, which means we can do Avril Lavigne and that "I've got two tickets" part of Teenage Dirtbag) along with the rhythm guitar. When I say I want the covers to be precise it would be ideal to have it down to the guitar tones as well; so an amp profiler would be a great asset. Having said that, your role will mostly be singing, so any time that there's only one guitar there'll be no need to play.
You won't need to read music at any point except if I have a specific riff in one of the arrangements, for which I would generally provide TAB. Otherwise I am looking at playing without charts/ipads if possible.
I'm hoping we can practice free of charge at a place in Gladstone Park (north-west) but it's only a slim lead so far, nothing confirmed. If I find someone that suits straight away we could be rehearsing a week from now (this listing is from 1st of December 2019) but otherwise it's mostly a 2020 start up for me. I only have you and a drummer left to find so you never know!
Paid - Payment will be (hopefully) regular and decent a little bit later when we're playing gigs!
Expenses paid - Despite no upfront payment, pizza and drinks will be provided at rehearsals and if I can afford it maybe a little bit of cash for your time in the early days
