Young Female Actor Required for NIDA Masters Script Reading
New South Wales, Australia

My name is Caroline Levien and I am casting for my end of year presentation as part of the NIDA Master of Fine Arts (Writing for Performance) readings on the 20th and 30th of October.
I am presenting a 40 minute staged reading of an excerpt from my major work, ‘Charlie-Girl’, to be read in front of a small audience of industry guests and live-streamed for the general public.
The Project:
'Charlie-Girl' is an eight-episode podcast drama (developed as a screenplay), following the story of Charlie, a precocious 10-year-old girl and her young and troubled mother, Marion as they relocate to a country town, Rosedale. After a bushfire all but raises the town, Charlie's face is left disfigured. She takes to wearing a paper-mache mask she has made of her mother's beloved dead dog, Carrie to cover her face and in an attempt to make her mother love her more. But the mask starts to overtake her and as it does, the natural world revolts. Spirits wander the forest, the dead walk, the small town of Rosedale is forced to go to extreme lengths to avoid the blistering realty that they might be the last town on the continent, at the end of an epoch.
It's an eco-drama but some black comedy elements and some fairly challenging themes explored throughout.
