Ensemble Cast Required for Peking Duk Music Video

Victoria, Australia
Listed by View details

Peking Duk are a successful producing duo with their last single claiming top spot on the ARIA dance chart for 6 weeks. They are currently on the Big Day Out tour with this single coinciding with the festival.

THE CONCEPT:
We follow a group of wayward adults rejecting the hustling day-to-day responsibilities that come with age. Dressed in tattered and dishevelled animals costumes they embrace their primal instincts in a secluded forest. Each adult plays a different animal. We have Owl, Wolf, Elk, Fox, Kingfisher, Hare. We follow each member as they traverse through the woods; some holding suitcases, others with bags of clothes.
Deep in the forest burns a bonfire. As they stand around, looking into the flames, they begin tossing their possessions into the burning wreck. No one is talking, there’s no context for what is happening – the viewer is left to make their own minds.

‘Where the Wild Things are’ was an important reference in the development of this concept. The idea of escaping into a world filled with childlike wonder and imagination is something that often escapes us into adulthood. As the narrative progresses we see them reclaim this.

The shoot dates are the 5th and 6th of February with one or two rehearsals before hand.
There is a token payment of $250 for your time on the shoot and we will be shooting on high end equipment (either an Alexa or RED) and can promise a high production value result. This is their last music video which we also made: Link available upon application

We are looking to have cast locked in by the end of next week so please apply now.

Elk

The everyman, hero character. This is his first time on this journey. He is looking for something new. A searching and unsure character. He is attracted to the Kingfisher and searches for her during the clip. They meet and there is a very subtle and unspoken romance between them.

Male, aged 24 to 34

  • Acting experience: Previous unpaid speaking roles, Previous paid speaking roles

Kingfisher

A free spirit vagabond character. She has done this before and freed herself from the everyday world. She likes to ‘fly’ alone but is interested in the Elk when he finds her.

Female, aged 18 to 27

  • Acting experience: Previous unpaid speaking roles, Previous paid speaking roles

Applications closed 29 January 2014.

Owl

He has lost the love of his life; his wife of 40 years. Now feels like he has nothing and is out here trying to pull away from that and free himself from it. But he spends the music video looking through an old photo album and can’t pull away from the memory. He breaks down into tears - this is a heavy emotional role.

Male, aged 60 and over

  • Acting experience: Previous unpaid speaking roles, Previous paid speaking roles

Applications closed 29 January 2014.

Fox

Contains a lot of pent up aggression. Tired of being under the command of those bigger than him, he eyes off the Wolf as a way to release that frustration and get on top. He is smaller than the Wolf but much more nimble and quick. Fights with the Wolf.

Male, aged 28 to 37

  • Acting experience: Previous unpaid speaking roles, Previous paid speaking roles

Wolf

Not much is known about the Wolf. He stands alone and does not want to be bothered by others. He is careful of the Fox as he feels threatened, marking his territory and daring him to stay away. The Wolf is a big strong character. Fights with the Fox.

Male, aged 34 to 45

  • Acting experience: Previous unpaid speaking roles, Previous paid speaking roles

She is wild like a kid with too much energy. She runs around the place, always busy doing things and playing with things. This is an older person who hasn’t grown up from being a child.
