After several years overseas, I (Kyan Krumdieck) have returned to Christchurch. I would really like to give this year's 48 Hours a proper run, but I only know a few people with experience in Christchurch, so I'm looking for experienced crew members to join my team. I will be taking the Team Leader position, most likely the Directing and Writing positions as well as Production, though I am open to the right person helping with those too.

This year's 48 Hour film festival will be on May 24-26th.

If you don't know what 48 Hours is, it is a competition in which you have 48 hours to make a short film in a given genre, etc. It's just about as challenging and stressful as it can get. I have experience in just about every area of production, but I'm looking for talented crew in several of the key areas that I can trust with key aspects of production. I'm looking for people that can do better than I could in the specific areas, and that can help me to focus on keeping the train on the rails.

We have access to a Canon 5D Mark II, and a Canon 60D, with a range of okay lenses. As well as a reasonable Shotgun Mic, Zoom Recorder, reflector, tripods etc. We are missing a good boom pole and a soft box.
If you have your own equipment that would be helpful. I am alright at getting the compositions that I want, but it isn't my expertise.

If you think this sounds like you, I'd love to meet you. If it's going to work, we really would need to meet and get to know each other a little before the weekend to make sure we can work well together, sometime between April 25th and May 5.

Providing recordings of your past work will help greatly.
We are a serious team that simply want to make a good film we can be proud of and use in our portfolio, regardless of whether it places or not.

If you want to know more about me, you can look at my profile, or here is a brief overview of what I've done with some links:
- At a similar competition at UC Berkeley, my film 'Peep Show' won Best Picture. It went on to the National Competition and screened in the Short Film corner at Cannes.

- My short 'The Santan Cause' got Honorable Mention in the Eisner Awards. It's about a cult that worships 'Lord Nicholas'
- I shot an independent, what looks like will be feature length, film last year which I am editing now.

If you have a look at those, you'll get an idea of sort of my sensibility. They're all very different, but I generally like to play with comedy that veers into seriousness.

As it's 48 Hours, I think it goes without saying that it's unpaid. I am paying the registration fee, and footing many of the production costs. If you can only offer your time and work that's great, but if you're willing to pitch in a little towards these costs, that would be nice too.

Let me know if you are interested in working with me and my team. I'd really like to hear from you!

48 Hours - Cinematographer

An experienced cinematographer that knows their way around their own camera, or the Canon 5D II & 60D. A working understanding of ISO, Aperture, shutter speed, white balance, frame rates, lighting etc, and how to expose well in low lighting, all really important. Knowledge of VFX will be a real plus. Lighting equipment would help, but not essential. A friendly personality that is eager to take part in a team, who is serious about their craft, but also want to have a fun time on 48 Hours.

We have access to equipment, but the know how and access to music programs will be important.

48 Hours - Lead Editor

48 Hours is a very stressful undertaking, and one of the most stressful parts of it, is rapidly whipping the film together, rendering it quickly, and getting the dang thing in on time. I am an experienced editor, and I have a reasonably beefy desktop that runs Adobe Premiere. I am looking for an experienced editor that I can trust to be processing and editing while I may have to be occupied with other tasks. This is a really key role, so i will want to get to know you and see your work.
