Brisbane-based independent company Tee-ball Ticket Theatre is seeking 11 female or non-binary identifying actors for next production: DNA by Dennis Kelly.

A poignant, sometimes hilarious, mostly dark piece that follows the actions of 11 teenagers trying to cover up a horrible crime. Central themes of bullying, self and group identity, cruelty, and responsibility. Audition if you are interested in playing a challenging, complex character in a captivating contemporary text.

Profit share element. Rehearsals Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday nights. Not all actors will be needed at all rehearsals. Must be available for performances Friday-Sunday evenings during May 2016. Auditions on the 26th and 27th of February.

Leading role: Phil

Largely non-verbal character who presents in the majority of scenes and takes on leadership roles when needed. A strong presence is needed for this character.

Constantly striving for Phil’s attention. Leah is a moral character and tries to reason with her classmates, she is sensible and able to think for herself. Comedic timing and plus for this character.

Fill the same role as chorus or narrator. They throw the audience directly into the action at the beginning of the show and fill in any blanks throughout. Mark & Jan have rapid-fire dialogue throughout, comedic timing a plus for these characters.

A strong character who does not respond well to figures of authority. Relies on sarcasm to make points and diffuse tension.

The victim. Adam appears towards the end of the play. We find that she has suffered a head injury and it is still affecting her. Adam is an integral character and will need to be played by a skilled actor.
