Influences: Josh Groban, Barbra Streisand, John Farnham, Katie Noonan, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble, Beyonce, Tina Arena....too Many To Mention !
I started singing when I was 9 years old, commencing with Classical & Musical Theatre training. I continued through my school years and completed HSC Singing, passing exams at the Melba Conservatorium. Throughout my school years I was a member of Madrigals and Choirs and had leading roles in school productions.
At 16, I appeared several times on Young Talent Time as a contestant and in 1981 I was a Grand Finalist. In 1984 I appeared on New Faces (Channel 9) and received the encouragement award from Bert Newton. I also appeared on the Good Friday Appeal on Channel 7.
I joined a covers band as a backing vocalist and worked in many venues across Melbourne. I then worked as the lead vocalist of Deja Vu cover band and Strangely Enough.
I appeared in many productions with CLOC Musical Theatre in small roles and in the ensemble. I played the role of the Mistress in their Australian premiere production of Evita.
During this time, I worked at Crawford Productions and appeared many times as a guest voice-over artist on Cop Shop, Carsons Law, All the Rivers Run and Special Squad.
I was also fortunate to collaborate with other musicians and recorded two original songs on an album "A Study in Feasibility". This received some airplay on alternative radio at the time and appears in the Australian History of Rock.
In 1994 I appeared with Norman Yemm & Rod McClennan in the professional production of HMS Pinafore performed on the Polly Woodside.
I also spent sometime appearing in small venues singing jazz standards with Andrew Farrell (an amazing pianist from the Mornington Peninsula). I worked with a band called Viz at this time and we appeared in many venues across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.
After a short hiatus when I got married and started a family, I returned to singing in 2003 by joining a small community choir. Voca Beau performed at several community events and won the Mordialloc Eisteddfod several years in a row. I was excited to join the Channel 9 Carols by Candlelight choir in 2006 and performed every Christmas Eve at the Myer Music Bowl with 220 other choristers.
Returning to my love of performing and singing in bands, I spent a year with VAULTAGE as a backing & lead vocalist. Vaultage folded and was re-invented as TAKIN' COVER and I spend 2 years as the Lead Vocalist.
May 2016 Update: I've returned to the stage, joining " Covered Enough" cover band. This time in a backing vocalist capacity with some lead vocals. Great to be back doing what I love !
